Windows Server 2025 RDS · 50 Device CALs — installation and licence setup 1. Keep this licence key private. Confirm the edition, device/user/core entitlement and supported operating system on your order before installing. Back up important files first. 2. Confirm this is the correct RDS CAL version and User/Device type for your licensed Windows Server deployment. It does not replace the operating system or base Windows Server CALs. 3. On the designated licence server, install the Remote Desktop Licensing role service using Server Manager. 4. Open Remote Desktop Licensing Manager (licmgr.exe). Activate the licence server if it has not already been activated. 5. Right-click the activated licence server and select Install Licenses. Choose the licensing programme that matches your actual supplier entitlement, then enter the supplied licence-pack code and any legitimate agreement information required by the wizard. 6. Configure your RDS deployment/session hosts to use this licence server and the correct Per User or Per Device mode. Run Remote Desktop Licensing Diagnoser and resolve any deployment warnings. 7.
